Where to watch county commissions, city councils and school boards across southwest Missouri, live and archived.

14 of the 19 bodies we track have a confirmed video or audio channel. Four publish no recording of their meetings: three county commissions and one school board. One more is genuinely unknown. Nothing is listed here until its channel has been checked.

Newton County and the two Neosho bodies were added on 2026-08-16. Newton County publishes no recording of any kind. Neosho's city council publishes a recording of almost every meeting, on its own portal rather than on YouTube. Neosho R-V is the only body on this page recorded as genuinely unknown, and the reason is worth reading: see the school district table below.

Branson Public Schools moved from "not established" to "does not stream" on 2026-08-16. The district has an active YouTube channel and its board meetings are not on it. That is a finding, not a gap in our search, and it is the kind of answer this page previously left open.

Counties

Taney County is the outlier, and in a good way. Its archive is audio rather than video, and it runs from June 2009 to the present, covering the County Commission, the Board of Adjustment and the Board of Equalization. That is more than sixteen years, and it is the deepest meeting archive of any county here. It is also close to invisible: the entry point is a CGI script rather than anything that looks like a video page.

Correcting an earlier version of this page: we previously called it the deepest archive anywhere in this market. Springfield City Council's video reaches November 2007 and is deeper. Both are voluntary in exactly the same way: Missouri's retention schedule sets a one year minimum for meeting recordings and its disposition column says to destroy them. Two bodies of very different size independently decided to keep roughly sixteen and nineteen years instead.

Greene County is the strangest. The county with the most people in the region posts no recording of its commission briefings at all. It does print a WebEx link and a phone number on every briefing agenda, so you can attend remotely, but only if you are there while it happens. Nothing is kept.

Three of the five county commissions now publish nothing you can watch or hear: Greene, Jasper and Newton. That is the majority of the county governments in this market, covering Springfield, Joplin and Neosho. Set against the cities, where all seven have a confirmed channel, the pattern is stark: the further a Missouri government is from a city hall, the less likely it is that anything it says survives the meeting.

Cities

Joplin is the only body here that is still genuinely on television. Its council meetings air on KGCS-TV, the Missouri Southern State University station, on digital channel 21, and carry across three regional cable systems. Everywhere else in this market the broadcast era is over and the video is on YouTube or a city-run player.

Springfield's council video is the deepest media archive confirmed in this market, and it is split across two addresses. The current CityView player reaches back only to 2024; the archive host holds meetings to November 2007, and nothing on the current page tells you the second address exists. Note the shape of that: the council's video runs twelve years deeper than its minutes, which start in 2019.

Municipal utility

School districts

School boards here are better on video than the counties are. Four of six stream or archive, one does not, and one is unknown. Three of five county commissions publish nothing at all. If you can only follow one kind of body by video in this region, the school boards are still the ones most likely to be there.

Neosho R-V is the only "unknown" on this page, and the distinction from Branson is the point. For Branson we checked the district's own channel and established that board meetings are not on it: that is a finding. For Neosho we have not established either answer. The difference matters because the easy way to fill this cell would be to accept a YouTube playlist with the right name, and the Branson, Colorado trap in this same market is exactly what that looks like when it goes wrong. An empty cell that says why is worth more than a link that might belong to another district.

Branson Public Schools is the fifth. It publishes no video, and it also publishes no agendas and no minutes: its board documents page is a JavaScript widget stuck on "Documents Loading". A resident of Branson can watch the city's Board of Aldermen online and can neither watch nor read any record of the school board that sets their school levy.
